The Montgomery County Humane Society (MCHS) in Rockville, Maryland, is a non-profit animal welfare organization that has provided animal sheltering services for Montgomery County for over 40 years. Our funds to operate the Montgomery County Animal Shelter are provided under a grant from the Montgomery County Government and from private donations.
We shelter approximately 10,000 animals and service the animal-related needs of approximately 100,000 people yearly. Many of the services provided are mandated by grant contract and others are mandated by care and concern for the animals in our care.
ADOPTION HOURS: Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri:
12 noon - 7 pm, Sat & Sun:12 noon - 5 pm, Closed on Wednesdays

Manna Food Center provides food to nearly 2,000 households each month and helps the working poor stretch their limited dollars so they can afford a better life. Manna Food Center gives families the opportunity to share their day over a healthy, home-cooked dinner. Manna provides children with the chance to succeed in school by helping ensure their nutritional needs are met, offers strength to our neighbors who are ill or elderly, and provides a helping hand to people who face temporary hardship or unemployment.
Manna also provides food at no charge each year to twenty-five partner organizations This frees up $1 million annually to fund drug rehabilitation, life skill training, child care, and shelter.

Youth For Understanding is a non-profit, volunteer-based, international high school student exchange organization partnering with 50 other countries to provide students with an opportunity to experience life and a new culture while living with a host family and attending school in another country.
International high school students arrive in the U.S. each year in August to be placed with a host family who has been matched with the student, and who will then live with the family and attend school for the academic year.
YFU USA always seeks those in the community who would be interested in hosting a student or volunteering in another capacity to help with this exciting international program.
